What is 5G technology

5G technology is the fifth-generation standard for broadband cellular networks.

There should be a data speed of up to 10 Gbps. With that, there should be a 10x to 100x network improvement compared to 4G and 4.5G networks. With a latency of 1 millisecond, with a bandwidth of 1000x per unit area, we can connect up to 100x the number of connected devices per unit area (if we compare it with 4G LTE), it is available at all times.

Therefore, it has an availability of up to 99.999% Apart from that, there is 100% coverage, it helps save a lot of energy. Because it helps reduce network power consumption by almost 90%, you can use low-power IoT devices that can power you for about 10 years higher maximum bitrate and more data volume have more capacity per unit area (ie high spectral efficiency of the system), which helps you connect to more devices simultaneously and instantly.

Offers better connectivity in every geographic region. Then when you talk, it can support a larger number of support devices, costs much less in infrastructure development, and has more communication reliability.

    Generations of mobile networks

    First generation - 1G (the 1980s)

Audio and video signals (usually the human voice) are converted into electronic pulses via analog technology.

    Second generation - 2G (the 1990s)

Digital signals are broken down into binary formats where audio or video data is represented by a series of digits("1"s and "0"s).

    Third generation - 3G (the 2000s)

The 3G network offers faster data transfer and better voice quality and provides a higher level of security than 2G, 2.5G GPRS, and EDGE networks.

    Fourth generation - 4G LTE (the 2010s)

It provides increased network capacity and better internet speed.

    How does 5G work

5G technology will introduce advanced network architecture. 5G New Radio (NR), the global standard for a more capable 5G wireless air interface design technique, will not be used in 4G. New antennas will be equipped with a new technology known as massive MIMO (multiple input, multiple output). This way, more data can be transmitted simultaneously by various transmitters and receivers. There are other aspects of 5G technology that go beyond the new radio spectrum. It is designed to support a network Convergence (Instead of providing separate networks for data, voice, and video, one network provider offers all three services on one network).

5G architectures will be software-based platforms, where networking functionality is managed by software rather than hardware.

5G also enhances digital experiences through machine-learning-enabled automation. And the response times within fractions of a second.

Example: To automation for a self-driving car, 5G networks are needed with Machine learning and, eventually, deep learning and artificial intelligence.

How is 5G better than 4G

There are several reasons that 5G will be better than 4G

    • 5G has a peak speed of 20 Gbps, while peak speed of 4G is only 1 Gbps.
    • 5G is a unified platform that is more capable than 4G.
    • 5G uses a spectrum better than 4G.
    • 5G is faster than 4G.
    • 5G has more capacity than 4G.
    • 5G has lower latency than 4G.

    How will 5G affect me

The 5G network will offer faster download speeds, low latency, and greater capacity for billions of devices, especially in the areas of artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), and the Internet of Things (IoT).

    India 5G rollout Date

You must be wondering when 5G cellular technology will be rolled out? The government has started preparations for the auction of the 5G spectrum. The government has asked TRAI to propose initial prices for the auction of bands from 3400 to 3600 MHz, TRAI has started working on it. The Department of Telecom could soon present a guideline on this. In fact, experts believe that before bringing fast wireless technologies like 5G to India, the regulatory conditions for data hosting and cloud services need to be changed.

Jio will launch its 5G service in India across Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai by Diwali 2022 while it will be launched across the country by December 2023. Airtel will be launched at the end of October 12 2022. No more network updates yet.
