Indian iPhone users have been hoping that Apple would release a software update that would allow their devices to enable and use 5G in iPhones. It has been announced that Apple's iOS 16.2 update will include 5G support for the first time. The company has rolled out the public beta version of iOS 16.2 that supports 5G. If you are interested in using the latest beta on your device, then you can install it, otherwise you can wait for the official release when it becomes available.
In addition to that, you also need to have an active SIM card with an active data plan from Airtel or Reliance Jio in order to use 5G services. Reliance Jio 5G is currently available as an invitation-only service.

What does mean of 5G icons in the status bar
When you're in an area with 5G coverage for your carrier then you will be able to enable and use your 5G. You'll see a 5G icon in the status bar of your iPhone.
5G
You will see a 5G icon on your iPhone if there is a 5G network available in your area, as long as your iPhone is able to connect to the internet over that network.
5G+
If your carrier's shown 5G+, 5G UW, or 5G UC network is available, which can include your carrier's higher frequency version of 5G.
Find these options by going to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options. If you're using Dual SIM, go to Settings > Cellular and choose the number whose options you want to change.
Voice & Data
Choose depending on how your iPhone uses the 5G network, your battery life may be affected.
5G Auto: Enables Smart Data mode. When 5G speeds don't provide a better network experience, then your iPhone automatically switches to LTE and saves the battery life.
5G On: Always uses the 5G network when it's available, because this may reduce battery life.
LTE: Uses only LTE network, even when 5G is available.
Data Mode
Allow More Data on 5G: It provides higher-quality network coverage by enabling higher data usage for apps and system tasks, such as FaceTime, Apple TV, Apple Music, and iCloud backups.
In this setting, your iPhone automatically switches to 5G instead of Wi-Fi when Wi-Fi is slow or unreliable on a network you visit occasionally. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi to turn this feature off and on.
Use Wi-Fi for internet can be selected by tapping the info button next to the Wi-Fi network. It also enables third-party apps to use more cellular data to enhance their performance. Using this setting will use more cellular data.
Standard: Allows automatic updates and background tasks on cellular, and uses standard quality settings for video and FaceTime. This is generally the default mode.
Low Data Mode: Helps reduce Wi-Fi and cellular-data usage by pausing automatic updates and background tasks.
5G roaming is supported by a number of carriers worldwide. If your carrier doesn't support 5G roaming or If you don't see a 5G icon in the status bar. Contact your network provider for more information.
